Yes , they do stink up stuff.

This found several minor air leaks, would be nice if it had a shut off switch, even just a simple switch inline on the power cord .

Pretty nice

I figured they're probably all made in China, this one was cheap, so I'll try it. It's actually quite nice. It's smaller than I expected, which is good. I like the metal case. I see the over $900 otc one is plastic. It makes thick smoke. The fittings are nice. The flowmeter is nice.
Any of these is just a regulator, some means of controlling flow, and a heater. I don't know how anyone comes up with $900-1000 for that.
I regret buying real "smoke fluid" for it, it is obviously just mineral oil. The instructions for this even tell you to use that. No magic here, it just heats up oil to produce smoke. I'll use mineral oil, not baby oil, which just has a scent added. The smoke gets in whatever you're testing, condensing and coating things a little, so I suppose there is some minor risk of the perfume decomposition products being corrosive or something.
Speaking of instructions, you sure don't need them to operate this simple thing, but they are written (or translated) pretty well.
I might like to have a 120vac power option. I would rather not have the more expensive type that comes with an air pump. More moving parts means it's more likely to break. The 12v might mean they use a cheap diesel glow plug for heat, I don't know. Maybe I'll take a look inside.

Can't get any better for the price

I am a master technician for General Motors and this smoke machine works just as good or better then the high dollar ones the only draw back is it could use a indicator gauge the machine makes smoke fast and is easily hooked to the evap system the intake system to find vacuum leaks or exhaust system or turbo system to find leaks the smoke is also thick enough to easily find where water leaks are around doors glass and so on and you can just use simple baby oil or anything equivalent I had a Red Line smoke machine which if you work in the automotive field you know it's not cheap and I like this smoke machine a lot better it also has a simple on off button hope this review helps.

So I’ve been chasing a boost leak for sometime now and was almost ready to take my car to a shop. I purchased this smoke machine and found my boost leak in less than 30 seconds. I would highly recommend this to anyone chasing a boost/evap leak.
